Teaching 2017-18?
What are you looking forward to doing next year? Have you thought about teaching RE? It’s a 2-Sunday-a-month commitment, and a great way to meet MVUC members as well as learn more about our Faith. Classes next year include:

  • Loving care in the Nursery for which we will need adult assistants during both services monthly
  • Pre-Kindergarten – We Are Many, We Are One
  • Grades K-1 – Wonderful Welcome & World of Wonder (both part of the Tapestry of Faith series)
  • Grades 2-3  – UU Superheroes
  • Grades 4-5: Windows and MirrorsLove Connects Us (both part of the Tapestry of Faith series)
  • Grade 6 – A Growing Year
  • Grades 7-8 – Coming of Age
  • YRUU (High School) will be choosing a curriculum, performing social service, and planning social activities as well as their annual worship service
  • Spirit Play multi-age program during first service

MVUC has the Cutest Infants and Toddlers You Can Imagine!

Come spend an hour with them one Sunday this summer. You’ll be supporting MVUC and its children, as well as giving yourself a reason to smile. The nursery is open from 10-11 every Sunday in July and August, and is staffed by a professional caregiver in addition to a volunteer.
Sign up here, or contact Ann Richards for more information.

Knitting in the Spirit
Knitters from beginners to experienced are invited to meet on the first and third Tuesdays in the Meeting House at 7 p.m. for knitting, discussion, knitting assistance and comradery. Absolute beginners, spinners, crocheters, and other handicrafters welcome.
For more information, please contact Ann Richards.

Adult Religious Education
Laughter Yoga
Second Sundays, 10:15-11am, Hollin Hall Blue Room (2nd Floor)
Laughter Yoga is exercise and breathing — and unconditional laughter. Hasya Yoga (Laughter Yoga) combines unconditional laughter with yogic breathing (Pranayama). Everyone is welcome. You do not have to be happy to practice this joyful exercise but it can make you feel happier with practice. Instructor Claire Trivedi Brolin is a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader.

Adult Religious Education

Sitting Meditation
Sundays, 7-8:30pm, Carriage House
We practice sitting meditation and study readings from Jack Kornfeld, Thich Nhat Hanh, Sharon Salzberg, and others. The readings provide encouragement, instruction and support for those with no previous experience in Buddhist meditation. We practice for our own benefit and the benefit of others. Introductory instruction is available for newcomers. Led by Dale Peebles. You do not need to register in advance.
For more information contact MVUC’s Religious Education Assistant.

Adult Religious Education

Contemplative Group
Sundays, 10 am, Hollin Hall Sun Porch
If you feel drawn to deepening your spiritual life through meditation, join the Contemplative Group. We come together informally for celebration, silence, and friendship. The sitting meditation begins with simple chants from different traditions. Selected readings are followed by a 20-minute period of silence, broken by song. Afterwards we have sharing and fellowship until the MVUC main service begins. Whatever your background and experience, you are welcome.
