Enjoy fellowship at Mount Vernon Unitarian Church

Music

Mount Vernon Unitarian has a vibrant music program.  Most groups do participate in worship services, and they are also a great source of church community and fun.   Many can be found on our website under ‘Calendar’.

We have excellent facilities here on “The Hill”.   Our Chapel has professionally designed acoustics; the piano is an 8 foot Hoffman in excellent repair; the organ is a three manual Johannus electronic.   More acoustic and digital pianos and music spaces are located throughout the Mansion and Carriage House.

Adult Choir: rehearses Wednesday evenings and sings in both worship services about 3 out of 4 Sundays per month.  The music ranges from contemporary through classical, with occasional turns in folk, gospel, and show tunes. Highlights include special music presentations for holidays and our spring “All Music Sunday”. New members welcome!

Youth Choir Voices of Youth  (grades 6-12): This group performs several times a year with contemporary music and embraces current social themes. They meet after second services. New members welcome!

Children’s Choir  (grades 1- 5): Our children rehearse between Sunday services, and sing during services on special occasions.  They also make the core of our famous annual children’s “Holiday Pageant”, a colorful, costumed and staged music adventure!  New members welcome!

Special Groups: We have several groups that form throughout the year.

DRUM CIRCLES gives anyone a chance to meet and make a joyful noise.  LITURGICAL DANCE group gives physical expression to prayer and worship, as well as provide gentle exercise.   MVUC JAMMERS is a jazz instrumental group that meets twice a month and plays for worship too.  All groups listed welcome new members.

Performances: Our facilities often host wonderful Guest Artists, Concerts, and Recitals.  Check our website ‘Upcoming Events’ and ‘Calendar’ for details.
