BOOM (Brotherhood of Older Men)
Tom Ruby
First and Third Thursdays of the Month, 7:30 pm Hollin Hall, Morning Room
A group of men who meet twice a month to share thoughts about masculinity in the modern world. The group talks about hopes, fears, defeats, losses, and joys, as well as religion and politics. Information from Tom Ruby, 703-780-6652.  

EVERY THURSDAY GROUP (ET)

Thursdays, 10 am - 2 pm, Hollin Hall
This lively, open group is the longest ongoing group at the church. It meets every week for activities to support the church including projects for Holiday Shop, organizing receptions for various events, socialization, 1st Thursday of the month birthday celebrations, monthly book discussions,  feeding the homeless and enjoying lunch together. EMPLOYMENT TRANSITIONS SUPPORT GROUP

Are you in a job or career transition? Meet with others in our church who are looking for work and dealing with all the emotions and isolation that accompany this transition.

Enjoy the extended community of MVUC over a brown-bag lunch, followed by a speaker [come for lunch, speaker, or both]. Members of our church and from the larger community talk about their unique life stories and share their personal experiences, as well as hot topics. This program is in its 14th year of fostering “lifelong learning” and sociability. Bring a friend, make a friend and enjoy our community. TAWANDA
Nina Tisara
Generally meets the first Sunday of the month, 6 pm, Nina Tisara’s home
An informal group of women who meet to enjoy pot-luck dinner and friendly conversation.  Members range in age from the 30s to the 80s.  The name "Tawanda" comes from the freedom cry of one of the main characters in the story Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe.  This is a closed membership group, but if you want to learn how to start a new group of this persuasion, contact Nina Tisara, 703-313-6212.

The purpose of this group is to offer opportunities to meet, socialize, and to give a place and a voice to young adult members and friends of MVUC.
