2024 Annual Meeting Highlights

The MVUC Annual Meeting was held on May 19, 2024. Thank-you to all who helped make it work: Jan Speakman and Tami Bass for planning, everyone who helped set up and take down, checked in those attending, and everyone who brought a potluck dish for all to enjoy. One hundred and seventeen people registered to vote and those who were in person also chose our Share the Plate charities.

The meeting was chaired by Richard Roesel and Glenn Sheffield. All key votes were passed: amending the Endowment section of Bylaws, and selecting 4 new Board members, 3 new Nominating Committee members, and 3 new Program Council chairs. Congratulations to the new Board members: Steve Bogart, Oscar Castro, Martha Dyckes, and Will James. Tom Griffin, David Keegan and Jan Macpherson will join the Nominating Committee. Kathleen McDonald will be the new Sunday Services chair, Bonita Brandt will head Social Justice, and Bev Coakley will chair Lifespan Spiritual Growth. Continuing members of Program Council are Lyn Millett (Communications), Leah Choudhury (Property), Jim Burke (Membership) and Beck Mordini (Our Home Community).

Our Exemplary Volunteer Awardees were listed in the Windmill Weekly. Among the awardees were teachers and students from River Farm Forest School who received the John Stevens Property Award for helping to clean up the grounds last November.

The 2024-2025 budget that was approved by the Board in April was presented to the congregation and can be found in Finance Facts in the REALM database. In addition to the regular agenda, a special announcement was made by Neil Parekh who presented the Board with a petition to call for a special congregational meeting to be facilitated by UUA facilitators,” in order to encourage an open and healthy dialogue focused on conflict resolution.
