From Lora:

Greetings all! My name is Lora Powell-Haney (she/her). I look forward to getting to know you over the next six months, and being part what your religious education program seeks to become.

Here’s a bit about me: In my work life, I’ve been a museum guide, a reporter, an editor, a religious educator, a chaplain, and an itinerant preacher. I completed my Master of Divinity degree at Meadville Lombard Theological School in May 2020 and seek ordination as a Unitarian Universalist minister. For the last three years and currently, I volunteer with the UUA’s Side With Love justice ministries’ Fun and Spiritual Nourishment Squad and the Reproductive Justice Squad.

I love reading, drinking tea, building Beloved Community, creating rituals to deepen connection with the sacred, and standing barefoot on the earth–in all seasons.

My husband Charles and I live in a small brick house on the main street of a small town in Central Maryland. Our young-adult children live all over the United States: Neil in Utah, Owen in Maryland, and Ethan in California.

With Love at the center, change for the better is possible, justice is possible, community is possible. Let’s make something marvelous together!
