Book Sale – Help Wanted!

The annual Used Book and Art Sale (2024) will be held on March 14, 15, and 16.  This major event is just a few weeks away and we need YOU to check your calendars; plan to assist with set up, cashiering, &/or clean up. Books and Art have been collected and sorted for the past year by dedicated volunteers.  Now it is your turn to make this event a successful MVUC fundraiser. This is a great time to get to know more of our members and get great bargains on slightly used books, art, and frames.

Here are our volunteer needs:

Sunday, March 10, starting at 9am, we need lots of strong bodies to help pull up the boxes of books (on the dumb waiter) from the basement to first floor of Hollin Hall.  Also, we need to bring the better books and children’s books as well as the art over to the Chapel and Commons.  We can also help Derick set up the tables/chairs in the Chapel & Commons as well as Hollin Hall.

Monday – Wednesday, March 11 to 13, 9 am – 3 pm, is when we take the books out of the boxes and put the books out to buy.  Also the art needs to be cleaned up and set up for display in the Commons.  Lunch is provided for our workers. Come for as long as you can on any of those days.

Thursday, March 14, 1:00 to 5:00 pm; Friday, March 15, from 12:00 to 8:00 (note the later closing time!); and Saturday, March 16, 10:00 to 3:00, cashiers are needed.  These are broken up into 2 hour shifts.  For most shifts we need 4-8 people, 2-4 in each building.  Plan to be here about 15 minutes before your shift starts.

Saturday, March 16, we need many people to help box up leftover books, move the boxes to Hollin Hall, take down the tables, and clean up.  We begin this process at 3 pm sharp.  We are usually done by 5 pm.

You can work more than one shift if you like.  Students and adults can earn service hours!

Remember to tell your friends to come.  Support MVUC at this great event!!!
