The Confessing Church

As the Nazis rose to power in the 1930s, there were a few cultural forces that tried to resist them; perhaps the most famous being the Confessing Church. The Confessing Church was a collection of congregations united in resistance against the rise of Nazism in the larger German Christian movement. But ultimately, it failed because it sought to preserve it’s own power and place in society instead of committing to liberation for all people.
