Membership In addition to the work of task forces, committees and other groups, MVUC is a member of several organizations and supports a host of causes in our larger world.

Ventures in Community (VIC): interfaith organization on the Route One corridor, working to alleviate homelessness and advocate for affordable housing in Fairfax County.

Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy, interfaith organization based in Richmond, working to advocate for just causes in the VA state legislature.

Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice, working to support social justice activities undertaken by UU churches in the greater Northern Virginia and Washington DC.

Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, advancing human rights and social justice in the United States and throughout the world.

UU Ministry for the Earth, an affiliate of the UUA working to promote practices that honor and sustain the Earth.

MVUC supports the following organizations: Beacon House, Eleanor U. Kennedy shelter for the homeless, New Hope Housing, Open Door Housing Fund, Planned Parenthood of Metro Washington, Alexandria Neighborhood Health Services Inc.,
Equality Virginia.

Disaster Relief Fund

MVUC has set up a disaster relief fund to respond promptly to needs caused by natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, or other causes that require immediate attention. Any member or friend can contribute to the fund throughout the year, by writing a check with “Disaster Relief Fund” in memo line and dropping it in the collection basket. These funds are equitably distributed throughout the year, among the causes that require support. since we created this fund, we were able to respond promptly to needs of people affected by Hurricane Katrina, the earthquake in Haiti, the floods in the mid-west, the tsunami in Japan and more. Thank you for your generosity!
