Summer Worship – Sneak Preview!

Even as MVUC has so many activities and events happening through the end of the regular church year (Creek clean-up! Music Sunday! Annual Meeting! New Spring Auction! Youth Sunday! DC Pride! And more…), Rev. Ian, Lora, Mark, and your Sunday Services Team have been working to build a fantastic summer program. Join us in-person when you can and if you’re traveling this summer, join us on Youtube! Here’s a sneak preview of what to look forward to:

Summer kicks off with the UUA General Assembly Sunday Worship service which will be broadcast in the chapel at 10am on June 23.

On June 30 we will have an opportunity to meet and learn from our new Affiliate Minister Rev. Lauren Levwood, who in 2021 returned to her home state of Virginia and recently served as an assistant minister at First UU in Richmond.

In July and August, Lay Community Minister Ebony C. Peace, SPHR will be in residence with us for 6 Sundays. Ebony won the Charles Billings Prize for Excellence in Preaching at Meadville Lombard Theological School, served her seminary internship at All Souls DC, and preached at MVUC last August. Ebony will also be offering 2 adult faith formation/spiritual practice workshops (details coming soon) separate from her worship services to the MVUC community during the summer.

Rev. Ian will preach the other 2 Sundays in July and August.

On September 1st, Rev. James Gibbons Walker will speak.

We are also very happy that our Collaborative Pianist Ria Yang will be our summer music coordinator providing a steady music contact throughout the year.

And then, on September 8, we will kick off the new church year at MVUC with Rev. Ian starting his first sermon series of 2024-2025, Mark and the choir returning, and Ingathering.

Information about upcoming Sunday services is updated regularly on our website. We look forward to an exciting and enriching UU summer of ministry and spirituality on the Hill (and online!).
